Position description The Technology Resilience (TR) Lead Systems Engineer is an evolving and exciting role that has significant impact on defining, shaping, and architecting the overall technical environment with a long-term perspective that delivers Technology Resilience and Recovery capabilities for Mayo Clinic. The TR Lead Systems Engineer is a high-impact leader with primary responsibility for high-level network, systems, and storage infrastructure planning, design and optimization related to the technology resiliency and disaster recovery requirements for Mayo Clinic. This position is crucial to envision and oversee implementation of a resilient, technical architecture, leveraging leading edge technologies, which enables Mayo Clinic to deliver world-class patient care regardless of environmental hazards, infrastructure failures, application disruptions, cyber or crisis events. This role interfaces with end users, enterprise and security Architecture/Engineering professionals, and senior IT leaders. The TR Lead Systems Engineer must be a thought-leader and has a significant impact on shaping the future technical environment to ensure continuous delivery of services to Mayo Clinic staff and patients enterprise-wide. The engineer must be able to partner with leading technology providers to envision the future, including network, storage, compute, telecommunications, colocation partners and cloud providers. + Leads collaboration with Plan and Build teams and coordinates with Office of Information Security around system design and architecture and the implementation of systems and infrastructure to ensure the availability of critical applications in the event of a disruption (physical and/or cyber) to one or more of the primary data centers. + Oversees the testing and recovery functions, and develops processes for discovering, tracking, and facilitating the remediation of recovery capability gaps. + Provides guidance on and documents technology resiliency and disaster recovery strategy patterns and standards for current and new application or technology implementations and continuous improvement. Works independently Accountable for project results and goals set by senior Mayo leadership Managerial/supervisory responsibility for personnel and management of projects requiring substantial inter-organizational and intra-organizational coordination Provides leadership in the design, selection, and application of the of information systems resources to satisfy the requirements of the systems Develops proposals that consider alternatives and business case gains needed for comprehensive institutional consideration Works effectively across departmental organizations gaining consensus of stakeholders. May serve as Secretary, Assistant Secretary, or member of IT for institutional committee. Work is reviewed for long-term goal attainment. Qualifications This position requires a Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of demonstrated technical experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience or an Associate degree plus 7 years of demonstrated technical experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience. A high school diploma and 9 years of demonstrated IT technical experience focused on system hardware design, ordering, configuration, testing and implementation of multiple projects simultaneously in a large, complex organization like Mayo Clinic plus 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience may be considered in lieu of the degree. Bachelor's degree in information systems, business management, finance or related field; Master's degree in a relevant technical or management discipline helpful. Master's is preferred MCSE, CCNA, or other IT related certifications. Additional qualifications Experience in an enterprise IT engineering environment with an emphasis, or specific focus, on Disaster Recovery related infrastructure planning and management. This position is 100% remote within the United States. Mayo Clinic will not sponsor or transfer VISA's for this position. Weekend schedule May require some on call availability in the event of a major IT disruption or incident.
