Technical Writer

Gradle Build Tool Technical Writer

Gradle is the build tool of choice for millions of developers around the globe and is the official build tool for Android applications.

Our software is used by some of the world’s leading software organizations, such as Netflix, Airbnb, Spotify, and Twitter. We regularly collaborate with these and other users to make our products continuously better.

We are looking for a technical writer for the Gradle Build Tool. The person in this role will improve Gradle user experience by improving highly visible technical documentation.

The person in this role will work closely with engineering and developer advocacy teams.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve Gradle documentation, which is visited over a million times per month
  • Author new tutorials, guides, and release notes
  • Review and provide feedback on changes to the documentation made by engineers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Gradle and/or other build tools
  • Software engineering experience
  • Excellent writing skills in English
  • Ability and willingness to work with Engineering team to develop documentation strategies
  • Experience with developer tooling and documentation tooling
  • Ability to plan and carry out large-scale documentation changes
  • Ability to initiate, implement, and maintain multiple projects concurrently and prioritize work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a technical writer role
  • Familiarity with docs-as-code processes
  • Passion for writing and breaking down complex technical concepts into digestible content for a wide audience.
