Supplemental Health Practice Lead - West Coast (Remote)

Job Description: Location: We welcome applicants on the West Coast to support California, Oregon and Washington. This role is remote and requires 30-50% travel. The opportunity: In this role, you will work in collaboration with Sales Reps, case by case, to design solutions that make sense for each client, ensuring competitiveness, including plan design, discounts, fees and subsidies. You will provide consultative support to the Field and strategic relationship management with regard to finalist presentations and cross-sell activities. You will foster positive and productive relationships to effectively leverage internal resources including Distribution Excellence, Underwriting, Pricing, Product, Client Services and Account Management. You will be accountable for driving the establishment of both the market strategies and the implementation planning and oversight, in support of Supplemental Health growth targets. You will identify, nurture and expand strategic relationships within the Voluntary Centers of Excellence (COE) of major brokers. You will also serve as a subject matter expert and thought leader in various forums, internally and externally, including representing Sun Life's product portfolio in public speaking engagements. How you will contribute: The ability to provide Sales with Supplemental Health product and market expertise Mentor and motivate sales representatives, and the ability to partner to fill in the knowledge gaps Help to inform and define the evolving Supplemental Health strategy, including strategic partners, enrollment firms, associations, and alternative distribution A strong ability to manage relationships with assigned strategic partners/Voluntary Specialist COE, in partnership with field sales within the geography Coordinate local level/regional sales activity with national COEs Ability to work with a diverse range of people Develop and evolve relationships with enrollment firms and specialist brokers primarily focused on Supplemental Health products Continuously develop expertise to be relied upon as resident expert for Supplemental Health, Technology, Benefit Admin platforms, and Enrollment Maintain awareness of market trends and identify opportunities for Sun Life to gain/retain a competitive edge Drive voluntary sales growth- (accident, critical care, hospital indemnity, cancer, Maxwell Health, technology, plus new portfolio additions, not including Life, Absence, Disability products) Help refine sales approach up-market, taking a holistic competitive view and providing strategic thought partnership to drive supplemental health sales growth Understand competition across segments to negotiate, tailor offerings and win new business, renewals and cross-sell Work with Sales Reps to create broker level offerings to shop a marketing proposal vs. a standard offering Approach business planning strategically and creatively. Provide thoughtful market analysis and strategic direction to assist in sales planning and management Develop and maintain productive working relationships across the organization, effectively leveraging internal resources (e.g., Core, NA,Product, DDCoE, Voluntary, UW, Claims, Pricing, etc.) Partner with Sales, Underwriting and RFP unit to assess prospects and develop effective and targeted sales strategies to improve close ratios Participate in and/or provide consultation in support of prospecting and finalists meetings where Supplemental Health is included Demonstrate innovation and critical thinking on Sales opportunities and strike an appropriate balance between sales, retention and operational goals Support all associated Sales activities for Supplemental Health products, including renewals, identifying cross selling and up selling opportunities, and both proactive and reactive customer visits. Support the development of RFP and RFI responses that effectively position Sun Life products and services Work with Account Management to support cross-sell initiatives and persistency of block Provide industry expertise and partner with Marketing to author thought leadership in this area Represent Sun Life as Supplemental Health subject matter expert and thought leader at related industry events and conferences What you will bring with you: A combination of experience and education equivalent to 5+ years of relevant experience Excellent written and oral communication skills Demonstrated ability to establish effective team-oriented working relationships Demonstrate influential and inspirational leadership Ability to teach and develop Sales Reps to improve their knowledge and skills Demonstrated ability to working in a deadline-oriented environment with multiple priorities Excellent client relationship skills Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision Do you see yourself in this role even if you haven't checked all the boxes above? The annual salary is $75,000, except in locations with minimum salary requirements, plus variable incentive compensation.
