About the role:

As a Staff Full Stack Software Engineer working on the Product Security team, you will have the opportunity to directly impact the security of Samsara’s public facing products. You will work cross-functionally to implement secure solutions, focusing primarily on Identity and Access management.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead cross functional efforts to improve identify and access management within Samsara’s customer facing products.
  • Architect and coordinate changes to essential production systems. e.g. the highly available real-time streaming of data from millions of connected devices.
  • Design, code, deliver and support mission critical new features
  • Champion security best practices, coaching and aligning with partner teams as they build new features
  • Partner with Security Operations in implementing effective auditing, monitoring and alerting within Samsara products
  • Contribute ideas and feedback that help teams improve processes and architecture.
  • Increase visibility and knowledge of best practices to raise the bar across the team.
  • Act as a multiplier for the team, elevating the impact and output of every team member
  • Influence the vision and roadmap to improve usability, security, scalability and reliability within owned products.
  • Champion, model and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • 10+ years of experience working professionally with modern development practices
  • Mastery of programming/coding practices (Golang and Python preferred)
  • 2+ year experience in Identity and Access Management
  • Experience designing and architecting large, high-scale systems
  • A focus on and desire to mentor fellow engineers
  • An ability to estimate, communicate, and deliver upon project milestones with your team
  • Demonstrated success delivering solutions via the Agile methodology
  • Demonstrated ability to ship production-quality software in a dynamic environment

An ideal candidate also has:

  • In-depth experience working with AWS
  • Experience with Linux operating system(s)
  • Knowledge of SAST/ SCA security tools
  • Experience with Application Security concepts and/or familiarity with penetration testing
  • Experience with CI/CD tools – Buildkite and Github Actions
  • Experienced in variety of cloud and database technologies – GraphQL, Mysql, ElasticSearch
  • Strong communication skills and desire to collaborate across teams
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance
  • Confidence progressing vague problem descriptions through to elegant delivered solutions

Samsara’s Compensation Philosophy: Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver total compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs). A new hire RSU award is awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually.

We pay for performance, and top performers are eligible to receive above target equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.

The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below. Please note that base pay offered may vary depending on factors including your city of residence, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

$161,920-$253,000 USD
