Job ID: 2326998 | Amazon Dev Center U.S., Inc.
Are you ready to change the world?
We are seeking a Senior Security Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment as a leader in Amazon Redshift’s Security Engineering Team.
Amazon Redshift is a fully managed, petabyte-scale data warehouse service in the cloud. Amazon Redshift offers fast query performance using the same SQL-based tools and business intelligence applications that customers use today.
You seek to dive deep into details on business, operations, and engineering. You are a technical and detail-oriented leader who can build and grow organizations and other leaders. We have a team culture that encourages innovation and we expect team members and management alike to take high degree of ownership for their program vision and execution of ideas. You will have the opportunity to engage with systems that are at the cutting edge of technology. In addition to all Amazon Redshift engineering teams, you will work directly with AWS infrastructure and partner service teams. You will act as a leader who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. You are proactive in removing roadblocks, pave the way for innovation, and can handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will be a positive influencer across diverse teams, be able to effectively rally support for your initiatives, and be able to help deeply technical teams create simple solutions to meet your program goals. You are able to handle business escalations with a data-driven approach.
In AWS we’re growing rapidly and we need leaders that are able to grow and scale their organizations at a rapid pace. You’ll also need strong judgment. In AWS, our leaders have a lot of ownership and autonomy so they need to be right a lot. You will have to be obsessed with delivering the most customer-centric experience for security engineering on the planet. Finally, you’ll need to be able to invent and simplify which is what we do every day on Amazon service teams. At AWS, we’re reinventing technology infrastructure in the cloud. We need leaders that are able to look at problems in new ways, inventing simple solutions to complex problems.
At Amazon, we strive to create an environment that makes every team member feel welcome and valued and enables everyone to perform at their best. This includes:

We believe striking the right balance between your personal and professional life is critical to life-long happiness and fulfillment. We offer flexibility in working hours and encourage you to find your own balance between your work and personal lives.

Our senior members enjoy one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but kind, code reviews. Key job responsibilities
In addition to a strong understanding of security technologies, tool development, offensive and defensive security tactics, and ideally some experience with data warehousing, database services, and distributed systems, you’ll need a number of other qualities to be successful in this role. You’ll need to lead and understand the operational challenges associated with managing a fleet of distributed systems that are heavily automated and interact with operational systems. You’ll be a leader in working with customers and partners on security controls, integration, and operations.
A day in the life
Each day, hundreds of thousands of developers execute billions of transactions worldwide on our cloud. They harness the power of AWS to enable innovative applications, websites, and businesses. The Amazon Redshift Security team works with every engineering team in Redshift to deliver on AWS’s commitment that security is our number one priority. In addition, we work with many partner AWS service teams to solve security challenges at massive scale. We build customer trust by building features and services that meet the security goals of our customers, from compliance to analysis.
