Blue Sky eLearn is hiring a fully remote Senior Ruby on Rails Engineer to support the Integrations Team for our Path LMS product. As an Engineer on the Integrations Team, you will bring technical expertise, a friendly attitude, and an investigative mindset to manage and support our technical integration projects. You must think methodically, communicate frequently, document thoroughly, and act proactively to ensure our platform is integrated tightly with our customer’s systems and 3rd party databases as well as migrate data from previous providers.
You’ll be joining the team as a talented Ruby/Rails Engineer who has experience with all layers of the dev stack. You have mastered all aspects of API Development, Partner Integration and API Testing including back-end server data management. You’re comfortable with Agile and Lean Methodologies, continuous delivery, code reviews, TDD/BDD, and pair programming.
This is a 100% remote, full-time salaried position averaging 40 hours per week. Candidates must be located in the United States.

What You’ll Be Doing
- You will work throughout the entire client lifecycle and must develop strong working relationships with our onboarding, technical account management, and engineering teams to ensure customer expectations are met and issues are resolved proactively. You’ll help document existing customer integrations, and support and manage integration-related issues and upgrades as they come up. Specifically you will be:
- Leading technical scoping and troubleshooting calls with existing customers and vendors, as well as communicating requirements internally to client services and development teams.
- Supporting the use and implementation of our platform RESTful API’s.
- Actively monitoring and troubleshooting connections with third-party systems and prioritizing bugs and enhancements.
- Writing and maintaining technical documentation for a wide range of integration and technical processes.
- Completing multiple priorities and projects (internally and externally) in a fast-paced environment. Create microservices to support new features in Path LMS which are scalable, well tested, and conform to industry and company standards.
- Contributing in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design reviews, writing user stories, reviewing code submitted by other engineers, and automated testing (we use rspec).
- Serving as the primary North American point of contact for the Integrations team.
- Helping to educate and mentor other engineers.
- Helping us to add value to the software via continuous improvements in processes, procedures, and implementation and iteration of product features.
- Collaborating effectively with engineers, project managers, designers and QA in an agile (Scrum) environment by participating in project scoping and planning, including shaping and estimating of project tasks.
- Participating in on-call duties for production issues. Don’t worry you won’t be on-call all the time for all the things. We simply ask that you be included in the rotation.
What We Need (the must-have requirements):
- 6+ years of professional software development experience with at least 4 years of experience building and supporting REST APIs via Ruby on Rails (version 5-7).
- Great OO skills, including strong design pattern and MVC knowledge.
- Experience integrating applications and microservices with third-party APIs using JSON, SOAP, SAML, XML-RPC.
- Experience using and interacting with applications and microservices utilizing OAuth and JWT authentication schemes.
- Experience building and/or maintaining microservices utilizing RESTful JSON interfaces.
- Deep understanding of API development best practices including; endpoint versioning, request throttling, API security standards and building high availability, scalable APIs that can serve large volumes of traffic.
- Experience with building and improving SQL database schemas (we currently use Postgresql).
- Knowledge of software best practices, including continuous integration and continuous deployment, TDD / BDD using Rspec/Capybara (or similar).
- Experience using Git and Github.
- Experience using the Atlassian suite of software development tools (JIRA, OpsGenie, Confluence, etc.).
- Experience working on an Agile/Scrum team.

Salary and Benefits
- Salary range of $120,000 – $150,000 depending on experience, skills, and alignment with our needs.
