Senior Product Designer

Title: Senior Product Designer

Location: Remote (US Only)

NoRedInk is looking for a product designer to help us achieve our mission of unlocking every writer’s potential. In this role, you’ll serve as the dedicated designer for two of our cross-functional feature teams: 1) Product Growth and 2) Learning Experience. Every feature team at NoRedInk owns a significant aspect of our strategy and product, and you’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, curriculum specialists, and other key stakeholders to build innovative software solutions that improve the lives of our users.

More specifically, the product designer is responsible for owning the end-to-end design strategy and solutions for each of their product areas by using design thinking, creative problem solving, and visual design craft to deliver meaningful experiences for our students, teachers, and administrators. All of our product designers are generalists, meaning that they drive research, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and everything in between.

Design at NoRedInk sits within the larger product team, consisting of product managers and product designers. The design team itself is small but mighty, currently consisting of two other product designers. As the third member of this team, you’ll be a partner in up-leveling the role of design at NoRedInk by assuming the highest level of ownership over our design system, direction, and processes.

In this role, you will:

  • Own end-to-end design for two product areas: Product Growth and Learning Experience.
  • Drive research, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, prototyping, and usability testing for new features and experiments.
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, curriculum specialists, and stakeholders from other departments to define, design, and build features that delight users
  • Drive improvements to our product’s overall design, tooling, and processes, and contribute to maintaining and growing our design system

About You:

  • 7+ years relevant experience on an in-house product design team
  • Experience driving end-to-end design for critical, complex projects that both solve user needs and achieve business outcomes
  • Strong across information architecture, interaction design, visual design, and prototyping
  • Experience working on an agile team with product managers and engineers
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills
  • Ability to independently manage deliverables and set expectations with clear communication, planning, and estimated timelines
  • Excellent at giving and receiving design feedback
  • Passion for K-12 education and a deep commitment to improving outcomes for students and educators

What NoRedInk Offers:

  • A competitive salary and equity package in a high-growth, well-funded startup with massive traction
  • Excellent health, vision, and dental benefits (U.S. Only)
  • A remote-first culture that allows for flexible hours (We were big on remote before COVID!)
  • A relaxed and flexible PTO policy and paid parental leave
  • 401(k) (U.S. Only)
  • LinkedIn Learning subscription with unlimited access to thousands of expert-led online courses
  • Team retreats and events to connect with fun, talented coworkers
  • Consistent modeling of our company’s core values
  • The ability to help millions of students and teachers and address a critical societal need

Compensation at NoRedInk is robust and includes a full range of benefits, unlimited PTO, monthly co-working stipends, an initial home-office set up stipend, and generous equity. Our salary ranges are based on location specific market data and internal parity. For New York City, the salary range for this role is $160,000.00 – $175,000.00. Please know that if you are invited to speak with a recruiter at NoRedInk, they will have an open discussion about compensation during your first call to ensure alignment.
