An overview of this role
Our Engineering Productivity (EP) team is looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to drive our frontend dependency management, specifically making it more efficient and automate where we can. Engineering Productivity is predominantly an internally focused team so you’ll be interacting with much of GitLab, and still have the chance to connect with customers and the wider community through merge requests. The team is globally distributed and very collaborative, so there’s a lot of asynchronous communication.
The EP team has a large and unique opportunity to enable our teams to be more productive, which has an outsized impact on the product and customer results. This can be in the form of efficiency improvements, reducing toil, or even completely replacing an existing system to give orders of magnitude improvements.
You can read more about the EP team on the Engineering Productivity team page.
What you’ll bring:
About the team
Our EP team’s mission is to constantly improve efficiency for our entire engineering team, measure what matters and build partnerships across the organisation. This team is what helps GitLab as a company run, and any efficiencies this team make affects the entire company.
Engineering Productivity has two KPIs Master Pipeline Stability and Merge request pipeline duration as well as some other PIs. Our team is driving towards not only the targets but beyond. Our vision is to increment towards ideal but aim for significant, meaningful improvements measured by these KPIs. We have OKRs that we are excited to deliver as well as an operational role within GitLab in which we have many customers we are responsible to.
