POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Lead Data Scientist at General Mills, you will apply your advanced expertise in machine learning, data mining, and information retrieval to design, prototype and build a next generation omnichannel measurement engine and services.

You will serve as a technical leader for an enterprise level omnichannel measurement data science initiative. You will be responsible for designing the analytic architecture, constructing machine learning models, and communicating with product owners, business partners and other data scientists.

The Lead Data Scientist role requires a set of specialized skills unique to the domain area. We are seeking an expert level data scientist with a demonstrated history of successfully leveraging analytic solution design across data science, ML engineering, and reporting. This role requires in-depth knowledge of marketing and eCommerce with a preference for CPG experience.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Work closely with data science leadership, engineering, and business partners to develop optimization and machine learning models using best in class tools and technology.
• Provide technical leadership within a product team through strong partnership and providing solution alternatives.
• Create production ready, scalable models that provide real time insights that align with General Mills technology standards.
• Serve as a senior leader as part of the data science leadership team- contribute to technical strategy, best practices, and team development.
• Coach and mentor data scientists on key technical and domain topics through solution and code reviews.
• Act as a thought leader in marketing and eCommerce data science techniques and represent the Digital and Technology organization.
• Engineer new features by using your business acumen to find new ways to combine disparate data sources.
• Partner with functional analytic teams to align and integrate solutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Master’s degree in data science, computer science, engineering or related quantitative field or commensurate work experience in data science.
• 7+ years of professional experience developing and deploying machine learning algorithms in a production environment.
• 2+ years of professional experience in a consumer, marketing, eCommerce or media related role preferably in data science.
• Proficient in one or more coding languages including Python.
• Expertise with leading the development of large-scale AI and machine learning based models.
• Experience with cloud based AI platforms.
• Exceptional communication & collaboration skills to understand business partner needs & deliver solutions.
• Bias for action, with ability to deliver outstanding results through task prioritization & time management.

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

• The preferred location for this role is Minneapolis, MN however remote work-at-home applications within the United States will be considered.
• Relocation support will not be offered to applicants within the United States.
• International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $120500.00 – $201000.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee’s pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
