Your Impact:

Handshake is hiring two Lead Content Designers. This role will require you to span the gamut of strategy to microcopy, bringing a talent for simple and clear copy, systems thinking, and seamless user experiences. Your work will be foundational across all aspects of the Handshake experience, helping students discover their first jobs and universities and employers guide early career discovery.

Lead Content Designers at Handshake own content strategy within their areas or squads. They’ll work closely with their design, UX research, product, and engineering partners. They’ll define strategy and write impeccable content that meet users’ needs for comprehension and clarity. And they’ll do it all with a high degree of polish. We’re looking for Lead Content Designers across multiple areas of the product.

Your Role

  • A Lead Content Designer on a small, highly impactful team.
  • Work from concept to delivery to inform product strategy and shape experiences for students, employers, and career services on Handshake.
  • Partner with product, research, and engineering to ensure projects are well defined, high impact, and successfully executed.
  • Develop and improve a shared language across all surfaces, reflective of our brand and tailored to the students and professionals on our platform.
  • Collaborate with numerous cross-functional partners to develop content and strategy for our digital products that are powerful and intuitive to use.
  • Up-level the entire team’s content skills through a commitment to growth and mentorship.

Your Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of professional writing experience across UX, marketing, and brand.
  • Experience establishing, following, and socializing voice and tone guidelines.
  • A strong portfolio of simple, compelling writing in both user experience and product marketing.
  • A collaborative, no-ego approach to working with others.
  • Experience presenting work to leadership and executive teams in a startup environment.
  • Strong communication and ability to articulate the “why” behind your work.
  • Willingness to roll up their sleeves and work across a variety of channels.
  • Experience partnering with designers, researchers, product managers, and marketing.

Compensation Range:

  • $130,000 – $140,000

For cash compensation, we set standard ranges for all U.S.-based roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
