Graphic Designer

Title: Graphic Designer (Contract)

Location: San Diego, CA, or remote USA.

This is a long-term contracted position through our staffing partner DZConneX. Contract extension will be based on upcoming projects.

The PlayStation Studios Creative Arts team is an internal creative team at one of the world’s leading entertainment companies! This is your opportunity to craft unique visual assets for use across a variety of media, from broadcast and digital, to retail and live events. We are small but driven, putting an emphasis on quality, creativity, and storytelling to deliver impactful end products to our clients.

If you have an understanding and appreciation of visual storytelling, language, and structure and pride yourself on being a critical-thinking self-starter with a drive and passion to create outstanding work and a strong attention to detail, then this is the position for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Proven track record to use design to build compelling user experiences with a deep understanding of design theory including color, typography, and layout.
  • Can critically approach design challenges and construct an intentional, purposeful solution while adapting design style and sensibility to the specific job and characteristics of a particular game or project.
  • Understand, interpret, and execute against a creative brief.
  • Be a proactive contributor to the creative process from the beginning of a project through delivery.
  • Ability to channel and focus creativity and complete projects under challenging time constraints and deadlines.
  • Work in small teams on both short and long-term deadlines, understand and execute on client feedback and/or team notes to achieve desired end product.

Requirements:

  • Proficient in Photoshop or similar digital art software.
  • Ability to capture likeness and adapt to a pre-established style.
  • Strong understanding of color and light, and human anatomy.
  • Drawing skills are a must.
  • Replicate a watercolor aesthetic in a digital medium.
  • Keyframe animation and experience working with animators/motion designers is a plus.

As a part of the process, candidates will be expected to provide a portfolio or demo reel of their work and will be asked to complete an art test as a part of the interview process.
