This position will direct the development, implementation, continuous improvement and transition of knowledge & processes to operations as well as the sunsetting of legacy applications to newly defined platforms utilizing staff, managed or outsourced services and/or Software as a Service (SaaS) providers. The selected individual will play a key role in our architecture decisioning to ensure new platforms are designed within a repeatable framework. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Build strong relationships with product management & operational leaders through comprehensive, effective communications, actionable information delivery, and oversight of platform capabilities with a focus on strategic investment and expense management. Transforms business requirements into highly scalable technical solutions and leads design sessions and develops solutions for complex business processes Directs and manages assigned resources to support the effective execution and management of the Platform systems. Responsible for tactical and strategic planning of resource utilization and distribution based on business priorities Engages IT leadership, both technical and managerial, for review of architecture and standards. Collaborates with Leaders, Architects, and partners across the organization from a strategic and tactical perspective to produce & continuously improve IT Platforms. Actively manages all project planning and execution tasks including, but not limited to: Building and maintaining detailed project management plans to include resource, schedule and cost components to meet business requirements. Constructing detailed risk management/mitigation plans. Drafting detailed communication plans that address key stakeholders' requirements. Collecting information for cost/benefit analysis. Tracking project expenses and budget compliance. Provides strong technical leadership regarding innovation and digital transformation. Directs the development and implementation of a strategy for creating proficiency with next generation IT capabilities focused on cloud programming and applications and automation. Provides architectural guidance, technological recommendations and transition strategies that support the development, implementation and adoption of emerging technologies. Directs the development and implementation of a strategy around continuous integration and automation in the delivery of IT services and capabilities through secure DevOps. Develops objectives to align consistent processes and procedures across the various development platforms - including the secure software development lifecycle and software methodologies. Bring a passion to stay on top of technology trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology groups, and mentor other members of the engineering community. Creates an innovation "lab" for IT Platforms to manage a process for watching, assessing, piloting and scaling emerging technologies and perform product evaluations, POCs and white papers related to digital technologies. Follows SaaS/Software industry market trends, and help identify technology market disruptors, and business-differentiation opportunities SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Hires, evaluates, and supervises Vertex team members and third-party contractors Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop team Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable policies and procedures KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Experience Building and Leading an Agile Software / Platform Teams within the IT context Experience with development and delivery of next-generation platforms while maintaining / transitioning current systems that drive the business Strong Understanding of Operating in the Cloud, Design Principles, relational & Non relational data stores, along with core software engineering skills. Experience with Agile and DevOps Methodologies, tools and measurement practices Strong Financial Acumen and understanding of the total cost of operations Strong Interpersonal Skills, act as a mentor and consensus builder Outstanding Communication, both verbal and written, to convey complex designs, promote insight and understanding Proficiency in Microsoft office packages. Sufficient knowledge of business communications, including telephone, voicemail, and e-mail and operations of office machines, such as photocopier, scanner, and fax.
