Summary of the Position : We are seeking a Director, Government Programs (REMOTE) to create successful, long-term alliances within the following key federal programs to establish and grow our current and future portfolio. Northeast Territory. The Director, Government Programs will have established relationships and a proven successful track record within the CDC VFC Awardee and 317 programs. Responsible for favorably positioning and creating access to Novavax vaccines within the Awardee brand decision making structure. Will coordinate access strategy with the Sr. Director Government Programs- Public Health. The Director, Government Programs will also manage strategic relationships at the VHA VISN VPE level, and will coordinate access strategy with the Sr. Director, Government Programs-FSS. This includes IHS responsibilities based on geographic footprint. This individual must be able to work collaboratively with Novavax Policy and Government Affairs as well as Market Access colleagues to ensure harmonization on access strategies. This individual will develop the structure for managing relationships, including governance processes, issue tracking, and risk escalation. Work directly with federal partners to set the direction and scope for implementation of partnership agreement: key activities, timing, state contracting and responsibilities on either side. Responsible for understanding our competitive positioning, as it relates to overall market dynamics. Monitor implementation of and adherence to agreed-upon procurement, research, development and commercialization plans; take appropriate action to ensure execution. Director Government Programs will proactively collaborate with internal cross functional partners such as Marketing, Sales and the Leadership Team to implement corporate strategies within targeted programs. Demonstrated ability to lead the design and deployment of targeted pull though programs in collaboration with Regional Business Directors and Vaccine Account Managers. Coordinate with Novavax Market Access owners across Novavax to ensure strategic continuity of contracting strategy in managing both government and commercial opportunities. Conduct regular reviews/meetings with senior leadership and other functions as appropriate to communicate key issues, milestones, etc. and gather feedback. Lead or participate in the preparation of all solicitations, modifications and any other necessary documentation on behalf of Novavax. Lead or participate in contract negotiations. Identify and facilitate discussion around new business opportunities within the government programs (ex: CDC, VA, DoD); Collaborate with Novavax management team on business strategies and provide insight to minimize risk. Minimum Requirements : Requires Bachelor's degree. Preferred: additional advanced degree in business, healthcare policy, health sciences or any other related field. Must have excellent interpersonal skills, business acumen, strong influencing, negotiating, and conflict resolution skills with strong commercial orientation, strategic thinking and integration skills. Sound business judgement and integrity and an ability to build credible, effective working relationships both internally and externally. Must perform at times in previously uncharted territory with few established guidelines or procedures. At other times, exceedingly complex governmental rules and regulations must be followed. For problems surrounded by complex rules and regulations, the Director, Government Programs must be able to function knowledgeably, compliantly and expeditiously. Must be able to develop creative and effective solutions to inter- and intra-project priority conflicts, resource constraints and other problems which may impact project or group goals and deliverables across multiple programs. Advanced communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to concisely explain complicated concepts to executives within and outside of the firm. Must act as a Government Programs access champion and spokesperson within the organization. 12+ years' experience plus BS/BA in life sciences or related industry, preferably in commercial. Strong leadership and self-direction, high capacity for learning quickly and strong self-motivation. Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, negotiate, resolve conflict. Strong quantitative and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to identify, prioritize and resolve key project and partnership issues. Demonstrated attention to detail and excellence in project management and effectively managing multiple projects/priorities. Demonstrated ability to work with and coordinate demands from multiple customers, both internally and with partners. Must be able to handle ambiguity well and thrive in this fast-paced environment.
