Data Scientist V (Remote)

Reporting to the Chief Data & AI Officer the Data Scientist V will be part of a newly developing Data Science and Machine Learning team dedicated to Availity's Payer transaction benchmarking. The Data Scientist V will be an individual contributor responsible for project execution utilizing predictive analytics. The Data Scientist V will be responsible for mentoring other Data Scientists on the team as we grow this department. Sponsorship, in any form, is not available for this position. Role qualifications: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Proven expertise in breaking down and solving complex problems Proven ability to establish and lead the adoption of analytic development standards Demonstrated expertise in Python, PySpark and SQL programming for manipulating large data sets Hands-on AI/ML algorithm development experience leveraging ML libraries and frameworks Experience developing and deploying data/ML pipelines in a cloud environment Experience working in an Agile environment using tools such as JIRA Knowledge of machine learning lifecycle, including MLOps Strong communication skills including summarizing, interpreting, and presenting data-derived insights Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering +7yrs, MS + 5yrs, or PhD + 3yrs +2 years in a technical leadership role Nice to have: Experience working with large scale healthcare claims and clinical data Familiar with healthcare data standards Experience with AWS data and analytic tools Knowledge in MLOps What you will be doing: Solve complex business problems applying statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms Collaborate with product management and business stakeholders to understand project requirements. Support project work breakdown, estimation, and planning efforts Assume technical ownership of projects and lead solution/algorithm design efforts Provide ongoing technical oversight for project, including ensuring conformance to best practices and performing code/PR reviews Proactively address technical issues and roadblocks Promote best practices such as code reuse, unit & integration testing Extract and manipulate large data sets, leveraging tools including Python, PySPark and SQL Perform exploratory data analysis, summarization, and reporting Demonstrate solution/algorithm feasibility by developing prototypes Transform prototypes into production quality data/ML pipelines that are integrated into applications Effectively communicate actionable insights to internal stakeholders and clients - tell the story Promote a data-driven enterprise Mentor junior Data Scientists Availity culture and benefits: Availity is a certified "Great Place to Work"!
