As a corporate claims attorney, you’ll partner with our auto claims organization to advise and consult on claims involving high exposure and highly complex legal issues. You’ll be responsible for overseeing litigation against the company, coverage analysis, and reporting as well as assisting with the litigation of bad faith claims. Additionally, on occasion you may represent the interests of Progressive at mediation, arbitration or court, but not act as attorney-of-record.

Must-have qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate required
  • Admission to the bar of at least one state
  • Six or more years of legal experience including complex civil litigation experience or related corporate experience

Preferred skills

  • Significant experience with auto insurance coverage and bad faith matters
  • Experience in civil litigation, including a solid understanding of the litigation process and the ability to create effective, detailed, and comprehensive legal strategies
  • Ability to be precise about identifying possible outcomes and assessing the probability of those outcomes occurring
  • Demonstrated ability or experience proactively engaging business partners and understanding business goals and metrics
  • Ability to perform and effectively communicate a legal and/or coverage analysis in various jurisdictions

Location: Remote work is available from any location but the Claims Attorney must be willing and able to support customers primarily in the Eastern time zone and may occasionally be asked to travel to a Progressive office.

Compensation

  • $106,000 – $151,600/year
  • Gainshare bonus up to 40% of your eligible earnings based upon company performance
  • Participation in our restricted stock units plan
