Team Description

Our Legal, Policy, Trust & Privacy teams help keep users and their stuff safe, protect Dropbox, counsel Dropboxers on challenging problems, and are always synced with the Dropbox teams they work with. We deal with novel issues every day while standing up for users and helping the company and product grow.

Role Description

As an Associate Commercial Counsel, you’ll have a broad range of responsibilities. You’ll develop the skills to structure commercial partnerships and negotiate inbound and outbound agreements. You’ll learn our business inside and out and help to develop legal approaches and processes for our global products. Entrepreneurial by nature, you’ll have immediate impact through analytic rigor, uncanny judgment, and effective counseling. Responsibilities

  • Review, draft and negotiate all types of agreements – including inbound, outbound, infrastructure, and partnership agreements
  • Take accountability for important issues and decisions and see them through
  • Design, build, and improve legal department processes to keep up with growth
  • Build commercial strategy for product launches
  • Lead internal projects, trainings, processes, and drive cross-functional efforts to completion

Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated potential to excel at negotiating, drafting and interpreting technology agreements
  • Eager to learn new technologies and ideas
  • Great interpersonal skills with sound business judgement and the ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment
  • JD, admitted to the Bar

Total Rewards

For candidates hired in San Francisco metro, New York City metro, or Seattle metro, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is currently $176,500 – $207,700 – $238,900.

For candidates hired in the following locations: Austin (TX) metro, Chicago metro, California (outside SF metro), Colorado, Connecticut (outside NYC metro), Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York (outside NYC metro), Oregon, Pennsylvania (outside NYC or DC metro), Washington (outside Seattle metro) and Washington DC metro, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for the role is currently $158,900 – $186,900 – $214,900.

For candidates hired in all other US locations, the expected salary/On-Target Earnings (OTE) range for this role is currently $141,300 – $166,200 – $191,100.

Range(s) is subject to change. Dropbox takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location/metropolitan area, skillset, and peer compensation. Dropbox uses the zip code of an employee’s remote work location to determine which metropolitan pay range we use.

Salary/OTE is just one component of Dropbox’s total rewards package. All regular employees are also eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
