Application Engineer - Industrial Division (Remote) Requisition ID: 29703 Job Location(s): Eden Prairie, MN, US Shawnee, OK, US Ames, IA, US Job Description Danfoss's Industrial Division is looking for an enthusiastic, proactive, and self-driven Application Engineer to join our Americas team. The divisional application engineering team's work, both internally and externally, to further establish Danfoss as a leader in industrial market system solutions is critical to the success of the division, sales growth, and market share gain. The AE will report to the Industrial Americas AE Manager. Job Responsibilities Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following. Design and/or develop unique innovative system solutions and intellectual property, influence specifications, apply product, manage projects, and provide technical support both internally and externally to achieve specified goals and growth objectives. Maintain an understanding of our systems, solutions, products, markets, platforms, applications, and value propositions. Develop expertise to leverage knowledge and capabilities to develop materials for technical dissemination (such as white papers, webinars, and publications). Interpret customer needs and convert these to technical requirements including drawings, technical specifications, and written requirements for compete systems. Create system schematics, BOMs, part activations, etc. using tools with appropriate analysis and sizing work to elegantly exceed basic customer requirements. Complete technical proposals, system quotations, and/or define/specify system control algorithms to meet customer machine specs and/or commercial requirements. Support customers, remotely and/or on-site, in commissioning, start-up, prototype runoff testing, evaluation, and troubleshooting to validate systems/products on customer equipment and ensure smooth transition into production. Develop strong professional relationships with key decision makers at target accounts to collaborate on designs, influence customer/market specifications, and win pull through sales. Support Voice of Customer to the organization through effective communication on topics such as market needs/trends/innovations, future technologies, technical specifications/requirements, product changes, portfolio gaps, performance metrics, and other relevant topics. Support technical and/or special presentations on Danfoss current/new products and/or programs and their applications for customers. Support Industrial Business Unit initiatives and collaborate with Industrial, Distribution, OEM, and Virtual sales teams. Lead/Coordinate/Collaborate with project teams, Danfoss internal departments (peers, sales, product management, engineering, marketing, other divisions, etc.), and customers for application projects and new product launches. Manage multiple projects simultaneously with backup plans to address unanticipated hurdles. Anticipate business drivers and uses these to proactively manage project priorities. Prepare and submit monthly reports, action plan updates, expense reports, and other documentation in a timely fashion. Maintains records in an organized and accurate manner for performance analysis, follow up, and good record keeping. Other duties as assigned. Required (basic) qualifications Bachelor's degree from accredited institution in Engineering or technical field Minimum 7 years customer facing technical experience in hydraulics Valid driver's license Ability to travel 10-50% throughout Americas region Authorized to work in the United States Preferred qualifications IFPS certification 10+ years customer facing technical experience in hydraulics and/or controls Job Criteria Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and productivity skills. Self-drive, precise, and detail oriented. Ability to continually prioritize multiple projects. Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude and the ability to apply concepts of calculus, physics, algebra, geometry and trigonometry are required. Solid application understanding of electro-hydraulic principals and control architecture (such as IC 6-1131, Codesys 3.x, CANopen, J1939 CANBus and other industry standards). Ability to specify, apply and support development of control algorithms for electronic controls for specialty applications using current portfolio. Experience in reading, creating and modifying system designs (schematics, layouts, installations, etc.) in current group software platforms. Solid understanding of Industrial market/platforms we serve.
