Job Description Our client is seeking a full time Lead Android Engineer in Southern California to join their team! This role is 100% remote, and is perfect for someone with Kotlin and Java experience, in addition to experience with leading, coaching and mentoring other team members. Pair programming, Unit testing, and Android SDK are must haves. The company is a leading motor club federation with locations all throughout the Unites States. This role will work on the company's digital acceleration team, responsible for building intuitive customer experiences across the organization's insurance, membership, financial, emergency roadside, and travel services. This role will lead a team of 3-5 and collaborate with internal teams to develop functional mobile applications. The role will be primarily hands on application development, and will also include strategy, mentoring and training. The Lead Android Engineer will integrate into a fast-paced XP environment where pair programming and test-driven code are part of our core and key to implement quality code. Listen to people, gather feedback, and deliver results. Drive changes with Retrospectives and make continuous improvements. Required Skills & Experience Ability to lead team of 3-5 team members Coaching/mentoring experience & capabilities Robust Kotlin & Java Pair programming experience Unit Testing Working knowledge of Android Studio and Android SDK Solid understanding of service-oriented architecture, and familiarity with microservices architecture. Build on one or more platforms which include but not limited to web apps, android app, iOS app. Created published examples of mobile applications in the Google Play Store. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. MAJOR PLUSES: API's AWS .Net Service layers (Fullstack) Experience working with public cloud platform like AWS, Azure or GCP is preferred Familiarity with container platform like docker, kubernetes or cloud foundry What You Will Be Doing Participate and provide feedback during planning meetings (i.e., pre-iteration, iteration, and retrospectives). Collaborate with internal teams to develop functional mobile applications, while working in a results-driven environment. Help mentor and coach developers in their path to achieve success and growth. Continuously improve the code quality, maintainability, and readability.
