  • Hours: Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 am to 3:00 p.m. CST (extended hours when requested)
  • Location: Remote

Job Summary

Under the administrative direction of the Supervisor of Admissions/Student Accounts and/or Director of Admissions/Student Accounts, the Student Accounts Specialist performs a full range of processing duties while maintaining and monitoring the accounting aspect of student files. Responsibilities include accuracy in sorting, researching, examining and processing all documents. Qualified applicants must be flexible and adaptable to changing environments. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime.

Essential Job Duties Additional duties may be assigned.

  • Knowledge of higher education, university policies, structure, and processes.
  • Answers telephone calls, returns calls left on voice mail and responds to emails, chat, and faxes received from students in a timely manner:
  • Process: enrollments, daily payments, reconciliation, invoices and receipts to student’s account. Process course drop/withdrawal calculations
  • Enters prospective student information (name, address, telephone #, email address etc.) into an internal System.
  • Calls and/or e-mails correspondence to customers, as necessary, in order to update or resolve accounts. Research and process customer information relative to student accounts in a timely manner.
  • Provide proper documentation, contact notes and follow-up needs within the student file.
  • Works closely with the business office in Forest City, IA and completes term batch entry.
  • Assists with related special projects of the department, as required.

Knowledge

  • English Language – Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

  • Clerical – Knowledge of office administrative procedures including word processing, managing files and records, typing, and other office procedures.

Education & Experience

  • Employee must have a high school diploma or equivalency (GED). Previous administrative or sales experience is encouraged.

Equipment Used

  • Office equipment including computers, telephones, printers, faxes, and copiers.
  • Software use include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Blackboard, and internal database software
  • Reliable and secure internet is required for this position.

Supervisory Responsibilities
