The Software Engineer serves as an influential intermediary between the assigned business clients and the development and other teams in the IT function and requires a developing knowledge of both environments. This position may work directly on smaller projects or as a team member on larger ones. This position plays an advocacy role on smaller, less complex projects for the business clients in all phases of the solution development lifecycle for each of the critical stages including-initiation, analysis, development, testing, implementation and post implementation follow up. This position works closely with Architects and others on the applications development team to refine the solution design, methods and outcomes. The base salary range for this position is $69,000 - $90,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility. Equitable Pay and Benefits: Equitable Total Rewards Program (\_id=A) Qualifications Qualifications: + 3 years of development experience + 2 years of professional development within Spring framework + CSS Pre-Processors knowledge (SASS, LESS) is required + Fluency in JavaScript + Solid understanding of user experience design and concepts + Strong understanding of restful API design + Understating of object-oriented design is required + Ability to implement unit testing (e.g. JUnit framework) + Knowledge of application and/or web development concepts and methodologies including languages such as Java, Angular, Hibernate and Spring Framework + Proactive Problem-solving skills are required + Basic to advanced knowledge of relational database concepts and SQL + Knowledge of software development concepts, methodologies and languages based on academic or job experience. + Knowledge and application of various software development life-cycles and techniques (e.g., traditional, iterative, agile) + Good interpersonal / relationship management skills, able to foster remote working relationships within the team, across IT and with business colleagues + Knowledge of business and technology practices and trends + Good written and verbal communication skills + Insurance and/or finance experience a plus + AS/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline (Equivalent application programming or development experience may be considered) is a plus Skills: Agile Methodologies: Knowledge of concept and principles of agile methodology; ability to apply appropriate agile approaches in the processes of software development and delivery. Application Design, Architecture: Knowledge of basic activities and deliverables of application design; ability to utilize application design methodologies, tools and techniques to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical application design. Documentation Architecture and Design : Knowledge of documentation architecture and design; ability to build efficient processes, use appropriate tools and technique , and create complete documentation portfolios for software or technology products. Software Development: Knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements. System and Technology Integration : Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms.
