Senior UX Researcher

Title: Senior UX Researcher

We are looking for a proactive, strategic, and detail-oriented Senior User Experience Researcher to join our dynamic team. As the first User Experience Researcher at Coursedog, you will play a crucial role in establishing and leading our User Experience research function. You will be responsible for independently conducting research, analyzing user interactions, and delivering actionable insights to enhance our product offerings. You will work closely with our product designer and our product managers to translate research findings into tangible product improvements. Your work will be pivotal in shaping the user experience and driving the overall success of our products and our company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Lead UX Research Efforts: Independently manage and execute UX research projects from start to finish, including designing research plans, conducting user interviews, usability testing, and surveys.
  • User Insights: Gather and analyze qualitative and quantitative data to understand user needs, behaviors, and pain points. Translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations to drive the product roadmap.
  • Research Strategy: Develop and implement research strategies that align with business goals and product development cycles. Explore complex, ambiguous problem spaces, working cross-functionally to understand the opportunity and chart a path forward.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and developers to integrate research findings into product strategy, product design, and development processes.
  • Reporting: Create comprehensive research reports and presentations to communicate findings and insights to stakeholders.
  • Build Function: Establish and grow the UX research function within Coursedog, setting standards and processes for future research activities.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in UX research, with a proven track record of managing end-to-end research projects.
  • Strong understanding of various UX research methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a bias for action and a growth mindset. Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of the research function with minimal oversight.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Grit, hustle, and a “get-it-done” attitude — no task is too big or too small — with the ability to context switch between strategic thinking, deep analytical problem solving, and execution related tasks.
  • Motivated self-starter with ownership mentality, a track record of success, and a proven ability to juggle multiple projects/tasks while hitting deadlines.

After speaking with higher education provosts and registrars to better understand how academic scheduling works, they came away with a vision that permeates the company today.
