We are looking for a Senior Data Architect who will perform mission-critical duties in our data engineering strategy, contributing to and leading the development of our Enterprise Data and Analytics Platforms. A passionate professional who can blend the ever-evolving technology landscape of Cloud and Advanced Analytics with responsibilities to provide input on implementation and administration methodologies to management.

The Senior Data Architect will mainly be responsible for developing, optimizing, and overseeing the company’s logical, conceptual, and physical data model and providing recommendations. This role will be responsible for expanding, optimizing, and monitoring our expanding data pipelines through meticulous architecting, intelligent business logic, consistent data governance, testing, and continuous delivery. Please note this is a consulting role and has 50% travel expectations and a preference for residing in CST or EST for ease of syncing with the offshore team.

Responsibilities

Deep understanding of relational as well as NoSQL data stores, methods, and approaches (star and snowflake, dimensional modeling).

Experience with data security and data access controls and design in Snowflake.

Proficiency in complex SQL, Unix Shell/Python Scripting, performance tuning and database optimization techniques.

Must have expertise in AWS Platform as a Service (PAAS) model and its integration with Snowflake to load/unload data.

Implement cloud-based Enterprise data warehouse solutions with multiple data platforms along with Snowflake and NoSQL environment to build data movement strategy.

Make necessary ongoing updates to modeling principles, processes, solutions, and best practices to ensure that the Snowflake is aligned with the business needs of the environment.

Act as Data domain expert for Snowflake in a collaborative environment to provide a demonstrated understanding of data management best practices and patterns.

Experience in Cloud technologies such as AWS – S3, SQS, EC2, Lambda, Redshift, RDS

5+ years of experience building Snowflake Data Warehouse solutions from scratch by leading discovery, analysis, architecture, design, and development of Snowflake Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions to meet business requirements.

Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

Implement data modeling and schema designs optimized for Snowflake.

Configure and optimize Snowflake performance, including data loading, querying, and storage optimization.

Ensure data quality and consistency across the data warehouse.

Provide guidance and support to developers and analysts on Snowflake usage and best practices.

Stay current with Snowflake updates, features, and industry trends to continuously improve our data warehouse solutions.

Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to the Snowflake data warehouse.

Build Data Flows mapping Source systems and Process flows

Build Data Warehouse Architecture including Data Ingestion, Transformation, Security, and Aggregate layers

Build a denormalized Data Model with Dimensional modeling to meet customer analytics and performance criteria

Build an optimal data pipeline approach to extract data to Snowflake

Experience in delivering ELT solutions using tools like Matillion, Fivetran, and Informatica and understanding the competitive ETL space in cloud data warehousing

Understanding of reporting systems such as Tableau, PowerBi, and Qlik.

Expertise in Snowflake concepts like setting up Resource monitors, RBAC controls, scalable virtual warehouse, SQL performance tuning, zero-copy clone, time travel, and automating them.

Experience in handling semi-structured data (JSON, XML), and columnar PARQUET using the VARIANT attribute in Snowflake.

Experience in re-clustering the data in Snowflake with a good understanding of Micro-Partitions.

Experience in Migration processes to Snowflake from an on-premises database environment.

Design and Develop automated monitoring processes on Snowflake using a combination of Python, PySpark, and Bash with SnowSQL.

Experience with data security and data access controls and design in Snowflake.

Act as Data domain expert for Snowflake in a collaborative environment to provide a demonstrated understanding of data management best practices and patterns.

Give coaching and guidance to team members and data analysts across the Business Unit.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong understanding of business KPIs and go-to-market engines.
