Remote - Full-Stack Web Programmer

Job Family : Software Development & Support (Digital) Travel Required : None Clearance Required : Ability to Obtain NACI What You Will Do : NOAA's National Weather Service' (NWS)- Office of Dissemination (ODISS) performs portfolio management for all NWS Dissemination Services. _We are seeking a full-stack web programmer to assist development of web-based mapping products supporting the Office of Dissemination._ The position supports the GIS Development team of the NOAA National Weather Service' (NWS) Office of Dissemination (ODISS) located in Silver Spring, Maryland. Candidates are expected to work within the core work hours of 6 AM to 6 PM EST Monday thru Friday. Remote work is possible subject to approval. U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident is required for the position. Candidate must successfully pass a Federal Background Investigation. Work with Office of Dissemination scientists to create a common web design to display and disseminate map-based graphics and text information to allow NWS partners and the public to access information more seamlessly across multiple County Watch Areas. + Develop software and leverage existing algorithms developed by the NWS to support Impact-based Decision Support Services (IDSS) + Enable all NWS GIS map-based applications to use the same GIS map view framework to provide a consistent user experience for NWS data using GIS presentation layers on a scalable web-based map that will leverage functionality from existing applications across geographic and NWS services areas. + Develop GIS services supporting flood inundation mapping, excessive rainfall products, and quantitative precipitation forecasts for the initial release of the GIS viewer What You Will Need : + Bachelor's degree in meteorology, physical science, or computer programming or comparable experience + 2 to 4+ years' experience in web development + Experience with UNIX/Linux environment + Experience with web applications and libraries (e.g., Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP) + Strong experienced with Angular 2+ (Angular 12 or similar preferred) + Strong experienced with Django + Experience with Docker + " Experience with continuous code integration (Git, Gitlab, Gerrit, Jenkins)" + Familiar with AWS cloud products/services + U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident is required for the position. + Candidate must successfully pass a Federal Background Investigation. What Would Be Nice to Have : + Familiar with OpenLayers / ArcGIS + Nice to have Python and JavaScript/TypeScript The annual salary range for this position is $60,000.00-$90,000.00.
