.NET/SQL Database Developer - Remote Opportunity

RTI International's Center for Technology and Data Management (TECHDM) within the Education and Workforce Development Division (EWD) is looking for our next .NET/SQL Database Developer. Our TECHDM experts design, implement, and evaluate technology strategies to solve problems in education and workforce development. We combine deep substantive knowledge of education policy and research with expertise in data use, statistics, design theory, and software development to create useful tools to inform policy and improve practice. Our products range from sophisticated data collection and reporting and analysis systems to multimedia social networking sites that link researchers, students, teachers, and industry professionals. You will work on data collection applications and utilities for a variety of large national and international education studies' surveys and assessments. This will include the development and maintenance of web-based systems, underlying databases, and the building of utilities and APIs to facilitate data movement and status reporting. Outcomes from these studies are used to influence national education policy, report upon trends in education, and in our international work, report how student skills in the United States compare to student skills in other countries around the world. This position can either be remote or located at our headquarters location in Research Triangle Park, NC or one of our U.S. regional offices. What you'll be doing: Collaborating with colleagues to design, develop, or modify custom websites and applications which meet client and user requirements. Building innovative websites and applications for education-based projects as part of a team, and providing expertise on approaches and methods for development, deployment, and maintenance. Mentoring junior programmers to ensure high quality, efficient coding methods are being employed while helping to build expertise within our organization. Executing project work plans to meet schedules and deadlines. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and at least 5 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in developing C# based applications using object-oriented methodologies and efficient programming techniques. Proficiency in designing and working with SQL databases, including the development of stored procedures and functions, and knowledge of methods to optimize database and stored procedure performance. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript libraries. Proficiency in building and testing REST based APIs. Excellent written and verbal communication and skills. Willing to complete moderate security requirement process for the Department of Education, Position of Trust. To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status. Preferred Qualifications: At least five years of experience as a Microsoft full stack developer. Experience with Javascript frameworks such as Angular, React or similar. Experience leading tasks and managing the work of others. The anticipated pay range for this role is listed below.
