Temporary Math Tutor

Description

Essential duties/responsibilities:

  • Lead one-on-one or small group math lessons providing math content knowledge and mentoring students on the strategies, techniques, and attitudes needed for successful mastery of learning goals.
  • Place students into Zoom breakout rooms, interact with families to address relevant questions and concerns and escalate questions and operational challenges to the tutoring leadership team.
  • Work collaboratively with caregivers, team members, operation specialists, and tutoring program specialists to increase student performance and achieve tutoring implementation goals.
  • Adhere to the tutoring schedule and communicate changes in availability within established time frames.
  • Regularly attend tutor training sessions, orientations, quarterly team meetings, and check-in opportunities.
  • Contribute to data reporting policies by updating student attendance, session content, and other related information according to established deadlines.
  • Uphold confidentiality of student information, including the completion of district required background check and fingerprint processes.
  • Collaborate in a supportive environment filled with feedback loops, a strong virtual community, and shared best practices.

Required job skills:

  • Candidates with a strong working knowledge of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, Grades K8 (or comparable state standards), including both the content standards and the practice standards.
  • Comfort workingwith new technologies such as content management systems, Microsoft Office products and virtual meeting spaces.
  • Team player capable of adapting to various teaching environments and accountable in meeting tutoring implementation goals and reporting deadlines.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong listening and communication skills both oral and written
