The Role

The Creative Pod within Creative Labs brings perspective and expertise on global, generative craft disciplines that are essential in effective promotion and merchandising of Netflix content. These disciplines include the development of creative technologies, visual and AV design, audio design, copywriting, and music composition. This uniquely positioned group is tasked with setting standards for creative capabilities for each, generating new ideas that lead with their respective craft, and finding collisions between craft trends and technology that keep product creative both innovative and best-in-class. This expertise is applied to business-critical areas such as product discovery, content promotion, games, LIVE, and advertising.

Reporting to the Director of Creative Labs, the Manager of this Creative Pod will be tasked with fostering the growth and development of this team, helping to expand and evolve their global role within the Consumer Product Organization. They will understand the nuances, challenges and opportunities for the team, and use that knowledge to properly advocate and connect them to product priorities. They will work cross functionally with creative and operational partners throughout Netflix, and know where and when to focus the team’s time and energy. Their experience and expertise is a mix of strong creative team leadership and advocacy, strong creative perspective, and an understanding of where and how technology fits into and expands the creative process, staying plugged into advancements and trends.

The Responsibilities

  • Provide focus, vision, clarity, and direction for the team.
  • Work closely with the Strategy Manager and their pod to realize efficient and effective project workflows.
  • Help to advocate for clear and concise creative guidelines that can be scaled and adhered to across a number of business units, globally.
  • Expand and further establish the Creative Pod and its impact across Netflix Product Teams.
  • Support the exploration of new technologies and trends that can be leveraged and expanded upon by members of the team and cross-functional partners.
  • Partner on the creation of workflows and processes with partner teams to help implement global creative practices through a network of post-production vendors and contractors.

The Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience leading creative teams and/or acting as a leader in creative development processes.
  • Strong understanding of the promotional media (trailers, key art, and other forms of entertainment advertising).
  • Strong appetite for experimentation and using that approach to challenge creative norms, practices, and processes.
  • An understanding of creative tools (i.e. Adobe Creative Cloud applications, AVID, Lucid Link, etc.) and an ability to help advocate for improvements, innovations or evolutions, and adherences when the team establishes new feature sets.
  • Ability to quickly code-switch between creative and technical teams, acting as translator between engineering and development teams and creative groups.
  • Ability to understand behavioral data and insights, and use those to inform creative decisions
  • Excellent communication skills, both in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity with both ease and optimism.
  • Strong passion and commitment towards I&D in the creative process.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $140,000-$600,000.

We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
