Overview

FedWriters is building a team to support the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to enhance public transportation by managing and communicating research outcomes while ensuring all online materials comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act for accessibility. As a Graphic Designer you will design, produce and collaborate communication materials. Work Schedule and Location:

Remote: This full-time remote position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Responsibilities

  • Conceives ideas, concepts, and campaigns; designs, produces, and collaborates with others in the creation of multifaceted communication materials in print and other mediums for a variety of strategic communications projects
  • Works with PMs and team members to provide professional recommendations for concept, design, art direction, production, and QC monitoring
  • Defines design criteria; develops concept and direction; and proposes, directs, and creates art/photography
  • Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, in addition to selecting style and size of type
  • Monitors and tracks production projects to ensure proper and timely completion using programs such as InDesign and FileMaker Pro
  • Works with outside vendors to meet production deadlines and budgets
  • Responsible for print and prepress service specifications, purchasing, approvals, and QC
  • Contributes to the editorial development of projects
  • Creates layouts for client or supervisor. Maintains equipment and supply inventory
  • Maintains accurate files and records
  • Develops graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and Internet websites

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in graphic design, with a strong portfolio showcasing a range of design projects, including print and digital media
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other graphic design software
  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, color theory, and layout, with an eye for detail and consistency
  • Experience with print production processes, including prepress, color management, and quality control
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey design concepts and ideas to stakeholders and team members
  • Experience working with external vendors, including printers and production houses, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of projects
  • Knowledge of web design and development, including HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles, is a plus
