Golang Software Engineer - (USA Remote)

TurnItIn is looking to grow the backend engineering team responsible for search and report generation. This team has been developing the core services at the heart of TurnItIn over the past 20 years and is looking for engineers eager to tackle difficult problems in a way that is scalable, available, performant, elegant and readable. It's a small team and hence you'll be touching many different pieces of the codebase and will wear many hats while learning from top-notch colleagues. Our work often requires a good knowledge of algorithms, experience with parallel processing, understanding micro service frameworks and a heap of working with others to flesh out designs and push services. We run a light-process kanban model for project management, have a distributed team across 4 timezones (US to UK), work heavily with our DevOps org and take pride in the services we release. Unit and integration tests are a must, and code-ownership means we are the team on call if things break (having said that, it is rare that we get a call). You'll be working with people who love their jobs, love the challenges, and most of all we enjoy working with each other. Some of the services we own: our web crawler, our report generation pipeline, our similarity-indexing system, our document storage and conversion system and many other services that support those. Responsibilities: Design and build new services that add customer value Improve stability and monitoring of existing workflows Add new features to existing services Work with services running in concert at large scale (tens of billions of documents, trillions of keys, millions of submissions daily, etc) Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge/Experience: 2+ years of software engineering experience Golang Understanding of database systems (postgres, Cassandra, CockroachDB) Understanding of AWS (S3, SQS, etc), terraform + Kubernetes CI/CD (Jenkins, docker/containers), GitHub, unix command line tools Desire to solve complicated problems in elegant/graceful ways Strong work ethic, "self-starter", endless improvement, never give up Easy to work with, good communicator, doesn't take himself/herself too seriously, able to take feedback.
