Who We Need & What You’ll Do
As a key member of the digital content and product leadership team, the Director of Social Content and Programming is responsible for establishing and executing the overall social strategy, development of the social editorial calendar, creation of social content and where applicable, execution of promotional plans, across all social channels for the AccuWeather portfolio. The position will be primarily focused on AccuWeather’s consumer media properties (AccuWeather.com, AccuWeather app and AccuWeather Network linear and streaming), however this leader will initially advise, then build, a small team that’s focused on business customer engagement for AccuWeather for Business.
While an existing social infrastructure exists, our social capabilities are in their infancy. This leader has the opportunity to make a significant impact by architecting a big vision for social and driving audiences to engage with AccuWeather content across all platforms and devices. The Director will be maniacal with measuring effectiveness and implement a data driven mindset to the team that they lead. This person will possess an in-depth understanding of all social media platforms, be an excellent writer, have a strong visual sense and understanding of how to drive engagement.
The key objective of this role is to ensure that all social media efforts align with overall communication strategies and drive engagement (particularly traffic) to AccuWeather properties. The ideal candidate should also be comfortable working directly with internal teams including editors & content creators, on air broadcasters, product managers, marketing, creative and business leadership. The Director will be entrepreneurial because their team will be small initially proving results will lead to growth in team size.
