The Yahoo Commerce team’s mission is to help our audience of 600M monthly active users discover and make informed decisions about products and services so they can save time and money. We primarily serve audiences who are in their shopping journeys across all Yahoo properties. We work directly with our partners to reach new audiences, gain new users, and drive GMV through leveraging our ecosystem of products and services.

About The Role

We are looking for an experienced product design leader who works well in a cross-functional environment leading a team of talented product designers focused on delivering great user experiences while achieving organizational goals. This role will work directly with engineering, data scientists, and product managers to expand our growing catalog of world class product offerings.

Responsibilities

  • This role is responsible for leading a team of talented product designers to build and enhance our products to meet the needs of our customers
  • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product management, engineering, and research to deliver the most optimal experiences and execute the roadmap
  • Lead the Commerce product design team to develop innovative and user-centric experiences across multiple platforms
  • Define and maintain a design vision and strategy that aligns with business goals and customer needs
  • Hire, mentor, and manage a team of product designers, providing them with direction, feedback, and guidance
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in design
  • Conduct user research and usability testing to gain insights into user behavior and inform design decisions
  • Monitor design trends and emerging technologies to ensure our products remain competitive
  • Work with stakeholders to create compelling presentations and design proposals that effectively communicate design concepts and solutions
  • Ensure all design work is delivered on time, to a high standard, and within budget

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of cross-platform product design experience in the consumer products space
  • 3+ years of experience managing and developing complex design teams
  • You are passionate and enthusiastic about leadership and the impact you can have on a designer’s career. You have experience leading teams for multiple years and have coached high-performing, high-impact designers to succeed
  • Solid craftsmanship: skilled in both the theory and practice of design, up-to-date on design patterns, able to differentiate between trends and emerging best practices, familiar with user research methods, and a firm understanding of user-centered design and when to apply different tools and processes to achieve a great outcome
  • Enough professional experience that you thrive in the face of ambiguity and complexity and know how to get things done across a globally distributed environment
  • You have excellent communication skills across all mediums with the proven ability to influence a diverse set of stakeholders and executives
  • Strong communicator of design direction with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Experience leading concept-to-deliver design projects
  • Highly collaborative, energetic, and results-oriented, working hands-on in a fast-paced software development environment
  • Experience leading through major UI overhauls and taking products from 0 to 1

The compensation for this position ranges from $160,965.00 – $349,885.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
