The Cloud Engineer III is primarily responsible for architecting, specifying, and building new systems through automation, as well as contributing to the planning, re-architecture, or refactoring of systems already in use. This role implements planning, risk management, tooling, build and software engineering through collaboration with technical and engineering teams to improve system stability and minimize system downtime and customer impact.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Providing architecture and design support of the Linux, Windows, cloud, and container environments
  • Planning and implementing integrations and additions across many systems and environments
  • Driving automation, design development, and other solutions in a comprehensive manner to boost operational efficiency
  • Collaborating between development and IT teams to scale cloud solutions, create workflow processes and ensure the quality of releases
  • Troubleshooting critical site events and documenting root cause analysis
  • Setting various development and administration standards for Kaplan North America Production and Development systems
  • Promote knowledge sharing and overall DevOps culture in the organization
  • Automating application releases using continuous integration and delivery to Azure, AWS, and on-premise environments
  • Coordinating between QA personnel, software and application developers, project managers, and stakeholders
  • Providing recommendations on approaches to troubleshooting and resolution of site and production issues

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with a focus in Information Technology or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive experience working with Linux and Windows environments
  • 5+ years of experience with continuous integration, container concepts, and/or related experience
  • Extensive experience with containerization technologies and orchestrators (Kubernetes, Docker, etc)
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud and\or AWS
  • Experience in open source technologies and have a broad knowledge of technologies used in the DevOps community
  • Extensive experience with automation tools and processes, Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Extensive experience with scripting languages in support of Linux and Windows platforms (e.g. Bash, Powershell)
  • Working knowledge of programming languages ranging from but not limited to Python, .NET, Java, and JavaScript
  • Prior experience working with and supporting software development teams
  • Knowledge of agile project management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Positive attitude and ability to effectively work with others
  • Preferred: Azure certified, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
